Early Life and Education
Ratan Tata, the former chairman of Tata Sons, a holding company of the Tata Group, was born on December 28, 1937, in Bombay, India. His educational journey commenced at Campion School in Mumbai, where he completed his primary education till the 8th grade. Furthering his schooling, he pursued education at Cathedral and John Cannon School in Mumbai and later at Bishop Cotton School in Shimla.
After completing his schooling, Ratan Tata set forth for the United States of America (USA) to continue his higher studies. He secured admission at Cornell University, where he earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree.
Following this, he ventured to the United Kingdom to enroll in an advanced management program. In 1975, he completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, marking a significant milestone in his academic pursuit.
Early Career
In the early 1960s, Ratan Tata embarked on his career journey within the Tata Group. His initial roles involved working on the shop floor of Tata Steel, involved in limestone quarrying and overseeing blast furnace operations.

Over the years, Ratan Tata assumed various leadership positions within the Tata Group, accumulating extensive experience across diverse sectors.
Tata Sons
Ratan Tata assumed the position of Chairman of Tata Sons in 1991. Under his leadership, the Tata Group expanded its global presence and diversified into various industries, including steel, automotive, information technology, telecommunications, and hospitality.
Strategic Acquisitions
Among Ratan Tata’s notable achievements were strategic acquisitions, such as the purchase of British steelmaker Corus by Tata Steel and the acquisition of Jaguar Land Rover by Tata Motors.
