In 1981, Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan began his military service with the 11 Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army.

After receiving a commission in the Gorkha Rifles, Chauhan served as a Major General, overseeing an infantry division in the Baramulla sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
Leadership Positions
Ascending to the rank of Lieutenant General, he commanded a corps in the northeastern region. In September 2019, he assumed the role of Eastern Army Commander and remained in the position until his retirement on May 31, 2021.
