Chhattisgarh Government has unveiled a budget of ₹1,47,446 crores for the fiscal year 2024-25 in the State Assembly. A significant boost of 33% has been allocated to the agricultural budget by the Chhattisgarh government. Under the visionary leadership of Vishnu Sarkar, a total provision of ₹13,438 crores has been earmarked for agriculture. The budget prioritizes strengthening small and marginal farmers through the Krishak Unnati Yojana, with an allocation of ₹10,000 crores, and ₹4,500 crores for the Jal Jeevan Mission. This initiative is poised to benefit over 24.72 lakh farmers, an increase of 2.3 lakh from the previous year.
Empowering Farmers with Free Electricity for Irrigation
In a move demonstrating the commitment to the welfare of farmers, Vishnu’s administration has allocated ₹3,500 crores in the budget to provide free electricity for agriculture pumps up to 5 horsepower.
Initiation of Landless Agricultural Laborers Scheme
The Vishnu Dev government has initiated the Deendayal Upadhyay Landless Agricultural Laborers Scheme, ensuring an annual payment of ₹10,000 to landless agricultural laborers. For this scheme, a provision of ₹500 crores has been made in the Chhattisgarh government’s budget.
Days of Enrichment for Tendu Leaf Collectors
O.P. Choudhary, the state’s finance minister, emphasized the importance of tendu leaf collection as a primary source of income for forest dwellers. To economically empower them, the Vishnudev government has raised the wages of tendu leaf collectors from ₹4000 to ₹5500 per standard sack.
The finance minister stressed that farmers are the backbone of the economy. To fortify this backbone, the Chhattisgarh government, under the leadership of Vishnudev Sai, has allocated ₹10,000 crores for the Krishak Unnati Yojana in its inaugural budget. This will extend benefits to over 24.72 lakh farmers, with an additional 2.3 lakh beneficiaries compared to the previous year.
Solar Community Irrigation Scheme in the New Government’s Budget
A provision of ₹30 crores has been made in the new government’s budget for the Solar Community Irrigation Scheme. Under this initiative, irrigation facilities will be available for 795 hectares of agricultural land.
