Skoda Auto, one of the giants in car manufacturing, has updated its two cars, Slavia and Kushaq. These updates include enhancing safety features by providing standard 6 airbags in both models. Skoda has also slightly increased their prices. Speaking of prices, the Kushaq now ranges between ₹11.99 lakh and ₹19.79 lakh, while Slavia’s ex-showroom price ranges between ₹11.63 lakh and ₹18.83 lakh.
What’s New in These Cars?
Previously, only the top-spec style variants of Slavia and Kushaq models came with 6 airbags, while the lower-ambition, Onyx, and Active variants had only 2 airbags available in the market. After the update, both models will come with standard 6 airbags. There has been a ₹10,000 increase in the prices of entry-level variants. Special edition variants like Monte Carlo, Style Edition, and Elegance Edition in both models already came with 6 airbags as standard.
Safety Features
Both Kushaq and Slavia have received a 5-star rating from Global NCAP, achieving this rating with only their dual airbag-spec variants. Standard safety features in both models now include ESC, Multi-collision braking system, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Brake Assist, and Traction Control.
Competition in India
In India, Kushaq competes with cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Honda Elvate, all of which come with standard 6 airbags. However, features like these are not standard in Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hi-Rider, and MG Astor. While Slavia’s competitors, Hyundai Verna and Honda City, both come with standard 6 airbags. Volkswagen’s derivatives of Kushaq and Slavia, namely Taigun SUV and Virtus Sedan, are yet to be updated with standard 6 airbags.
No Mechanical Changes
Both Kushaq and Slavia come with a 115hp, 150Nm, 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic. The other option is a 150hp, 250Nm, 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG gearbox.
Skoda continues to update Kushaq and Slavia with new features in several steps, and there are expectations of presenting them with an ADAS suite, including a 360-degree camera, later on.
