Polling is scheduled for May 13th, Monday in Telugu states. With nationwide elections underway, two rounds of voting have already been successfully completed. The Central Election Commission has announced that a total of seven phases of voting will be conducted. Many are already prepared to cast their votes in this electoral process. However, some may face difficulties due to unavoidable circumstances such as missing voter ID cards or being unable to find them at the time of voting. In response, the Central Election Commission has clarified what actions voters can take if they do not have a voter ID card.

The Need for Voter ID Card
The Election Commission has made it clear that voters listed in the electoral roll with their name but without a voter ID card can still cast their vote if they have any of the following documents:
- Aadhaar Card

- Driving License
- Passport
- Passbook with photo issued by Bank or Post Office
- Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour
- Pension document with photo
- Official identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs

How to Verify Your Name in the Voter List
If you reside in a region where polling is taking place and wish to check if your name is on the voter list, you can visit https://www.eci.gov.in/. Enter the required details to check and verify if your name is listed. In case you don’t have a physical voter ID card, Election Commission has provided an alternative. They have stated that voters who don’t have a voter ID card but are listed in the voter list can present any one of the twelve aforementioned identity proofs to cast their votes.
Digital Voter ID Card
The Election Commission has introduced the e-EPIC (Electronic Electoral Photo Identity Card) system. This enables voters to download a digital copy of their voter ID card in PDF format. Even if you lose your physical voter ID card, you can download and print the digital copy. Visit the website https://voters.eci.gov.in/login to download the digital copy of your voter ID card. You can also upload it digitally if required.
Helpline
For those who find it challenging to verify their details online, there’s a helpline number available: 1950. Call this number and check if your name is on the voter list by providing your name. Alternatively, you can send a message to 1950 typing ‘ECI’ followed by your voter ID card number. By doing so, you’ll receive instant information about your voter registration.
