UP Govt Plan for Bundelkhand Expressway: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is going to install an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) on the Bundelkhand Expressway under the ‘Smart’ Expressway project. This system will have sensors to detect the movement of vehicles, cameras running on solar power, speed measuring machines and much more. According to officials, a work plan has been prepared to install an integrated traffic management system on the Bundelkhand Expressway. Under this plan, a traffic management control center will be built on the expressway to manage traffic in a better way.
The Traffic Management Control Unit (TMC) will have a recording server with 360 terabyte (TB) storage. There will also be a separate server of 240 terabytes for backup recording. Apart from this, this unit will have many things like a controller monitoring the entire system, a screen showing the traffic status, Internet and SMS server, a fiber channel host for high-speed data transfer and cameras (PTZ cameras) controlled by joystick. These cameras can be rotated in different directions as per the need.
890 special cameras will be installed
890 special cameras will be installed in the Traffic Management Control Unit (TMC), which run on solar power. These cameras can work for 96 hours on a single charge. According to officials, these cameras will be installed along the expressway and can be rotated in different directions. Apart from this, the unit will also have emergency telephone helpline numbers for emergency contact, Aadhaar-linked biometric fingerprint scanner machine for staff identification, safety equipment to prevent lightning strikes, advanced systems to advise drivers and GPS trackers to track vehicles.
The Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEDA) said in an official statement that applications have been invited from interested companies to complete this project. The selected company will be given this work for a period of five years. The selected company will be responsible for maintenance etc. People working in UPEIDA will be trained to operate these systems.
