Priyanka Chaturvedi in Rajya Sabha: Priyanka Chaturvedi was raising a ‘point of order’, which means to tell the Chairman/Deputy Chairman how the debate should be held in the House.
Priyanka Chaturvedi News: During the Parliament session, a lot of bickering is being seen between the ruling party and opposition MPs. In the Lok Sabha, the opposition MPs have also had a tussle with Speaker Om Birla. Something similar has been seen in the Rajya Sabha as well, where Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh have had a tussle with Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi. During this, Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi was seen standing in the Rajya Sabha with a book.
In such a situation, the question arose that why was she doing this in the House and what was the reason for this. In fact, the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge was talking to the Deputy Chairman about ‘Point of Order’, where he said that if one has to ask for this also, then this is an undemocratic system. After this, the Deputy Chairman, taking the opinion of the ruling party, allowed Priyanka to raise the ‘Point of Order’. Priyanka stood up with a book in her hand and started speaking.
Why did Priyanka Chaturvedi have a spat with the Deputy Chairman?
The Shiv Sena MP said that I will tell you under which rule I am raising the ‘Point of Order’. I am an MP and I have the right to raise it. It is very unfortunate that I am speaking and the people of the ruling party are asking you to deal with it. Point number 259 says that the Chairman / Deputy Chairman has to take decisions and implement them. The Chairman / Deputy Chairman has all the rights through which he can get his decision implemented.
Priyanka Chaturvedi said that we are continuously protesting. We are not even able to hear what these (ruling party MPs) are saying. They are being given a chance to speak, while we are not even being allowed to raise our voice. Is it not your responsibility to let us speak as well? On this, the Deputy Speaker said that you sit down. You are not raising a point of order. He repeatedly asked Priyanka Chaturvedi to sit down and then allowed the ruling party MP to speak.
