In which state is Uniform Civil Code applicable?
Uniform Civil Code is applicable only in Goa. Goa has been given the status of a special state in the Constitution. Goa also has the right to implement the Portuguese Civil Code. Family law is applicable for all religions and castes in the state. According to this, the laws of marriage, divorce, inheritance are the same for people belonging to all religions, castes, sects and classes. No one can give triple talaq in Goa. Not only this, marriage will not be legally valid without registration. Husband and wife have equal rights on property.
UCC is applicable in these countries
Uniform Civil Code is applicable in many countries of the world. These include our neighboring countries Pakistan and Bangladesh. In both these countries, a uniform law based on Sharia is applicable on people of all religions and sects. Apart from these, Uniform Civil Code is also applicable in Israel, Japan, France and Russia. European countries and America have secular law, which is equally applicable on people of all religions. Most of the Islamic countries in the world have a uniform law based on Sharia, which applies equally to people of all religions living there.
