Guru Purnima 2024 Doha: The day of Guru Purnima is very special in Hinduism. According to the Panchang, this date is Ashadha Purnima 2024. It is believed that on this day Maharishi Ved Vyas, the creator of the Hindu scripture Mahabharata, was also born. Ved Vyas ji also gave the knowledge of the four Vedas and composed the Puranas. Therefore, this day is also known as Vyas Purnima 2024.
This year the festival of Guru Purnima will be celebrated on Sunday, 21 July 2024. Although it is not possible to describe the glory of the Guru, because the Guru is like the light of the Sun and describing the glory of the Guru would be like showing a lamp in front of the Sun. The meaning of the word Guru is explained in the scriptures. Guru is made up of two letters. ‘Gu’ means ‘darkness’ and ‘ru’ means the one who removes it. That is, the one who removes the ignorance of darkness and leads to the light of knowledge is the true Guru.

Meaning: If all the earth is made into paper, all the forests a pen and all the seven seas are made into ink, then it is not possible to write the virtues of the Guru.

Meaning: There is a difference between Guru and Parsa stone, everyone knows this. Parsa turns iron into gold. But the Guru makes his disciple great.

Meaning: Guru’s idol is standing in front, do not believe in any other difference in him. Serve and worship him only, then all darkness will be removed by itself.

Meaning: If Hari (God) is angry, then one can take refuge in Guru. But if Guru gets angry for some reason, then there is no refuge anywhere.

Kabir says that he is a saint, who is free from the cycle of birth and death.
Meaning: In practice, a saint should come and go only as per the order of Guru. Because a saint is the one who does sadhna beyond birth and death.
