Independence Day Celebration: The country needs a secular civil code, not a communal one – PM Modi
PM Modi said that the Supreme Court has discussed the Uniform Civil Code several times. A large section of the country believes that the civil code is communal. There is truth in this. This is a discriminatory civil code. When 75 years of the Constitution will be celebrated, it is our responsibility to fulfill the dream of the Constitution makers. I want every section to discuss this. Laws that divide on the basis of religion cannot have any place in society. Now the demand of the time is that there should be a secular civil code in the country. We have spent 75 years in Communal Civil Code, now we have to move towards Secular Civil Code. Only then will we get freedom from discrimination on the basis of religion.
Independence Day 2024 Live: Security of Hindus of Bangladesh should be ensured – PM Modi
In his address, PM Modi also mentioned the violence in Bangladesh. He said that whatever has happened in Bangladesh, it is normal to be concerned about it as a neighboring country. I hope that the situation there will be normal soon. The countrymen want the safety of the minority Hindu community there to be ensured. India always wants our neighboring countries to follow the path of happiness and peace. We are committed to peace. In the coming days, our good wishes will remain in the development journey of Bangladesh, because we are people who think about the welfare of mankind.
Independence Day 2024: I want to create an atmosphere of fear against the corrupt – PM Modi
PM Modi said that the countrymen have been troubled by the termites of corruption. Corruption at every level has broken the trust of the people. We have waged a war against corruption. I know that I have to pay the price for it. My reputation is damaged, but my reputation cannot be bigger than the nation. My dreams cannot be bigger than the dreams of the country. Therefore, my fight against corruption will continue. Action will be taken against the corrupt. I want to create an atmosphere of fear against the corrupt.
He said that some such people are emerging in our country, who are glorifying corruption. They are openly hailing it. This has become a challenge for the society.
