Delhi Metro Latest News: A record 72.38 lakh people traveled in Delhi Metro on August 13, which is the highest number of people traveling in the metro in a day till date. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) shared this information by sharing these figures in a post on ‘X’ on Wednesday. DMRC said that Delhi Metro has surpassed its previous achievement achieved in February this year.
DMRC said in a post on ‘X’, “Delhi Metro Rail Corporation recorded the highest ever passenger count on Tuesday (August 13), with 72.38 lakh people traveling across the network.” According to the data released by DMRC, a total of 72,38,271 people traveled in the metro on August 13. Earlier, the daily number of passengers traveling in Delhi Metro was recorded at 71.09 lakh on February 13, 71.07 lakh on August 12, 71.04 lakh on September 4, 2023 and 70.88 lakh on February 12, 2024. How are passengers calculated? According to DMRC, travel or line utilization is calculated based on the number of corridors used by passengers to reach their destination. The current network expansion of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is about 393 km. These include all the metro lines of Delhi including Noida-Greater Noida Metro Corridor and Rapid Metro, Metro lines of Gurugram.
Metro service continues from 4 am
On the 78th Independence Day, Delhi Metro has made special preparations for the passengers. Services of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) are continuing on all lines from 4 am on August 15. The decision to run the metro from 4 am was taken in view of the Independence Day celebrations to be held at the Red Fort. Metro services will be available at an interval of 15 minutes till 6 am tomorrow.
Let us tell you that in view of Independence Day in Delhi, security arrangements are vigilant at metro stations. The schedule of metro trains was changed on August 15. Metro services are available from 4 am today. After six o’clock in the morning, passengers will get the facility of metro train as per the normal time table. Passengers who have a pass from the Ministry of Defense to participate in the Independence Day celebrations will be allowed entry and travel on showing a valid government identity card. Such arrangement will be valid only for exit at Lal Quila, Jama Masjid and Chandni Chowk metro stations, which are closest to the venue.
