The average maximum temperature this month has been 35.8 degrees Celsius.
Delhi has so far recorded 82 percent less rainfall in July as compared to this period last year. However, this month the rainfall has been recorded one percent more than normal. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the national capital recorded 203 mm of rainfall between July 1 and 30.
Apart from this, 384 mm of rain was recorded during this period last year. The total rainfall during 31 days in July 2023 was 83 percent more than normal. Due to heavy rains in July last year, flood-like situation arose in many areas of Delhi. According to weather officials, this year the monsoon reached Delhi on June 28. On the first day, the city recorded 228 mm of rain in 24 hours, which was the highest rainfall in a day in June in 88 years.
According to IMD data, it rained 17 days in July, while it rained 19 days in 2023 and 18 days in 2022. Experts say that Delhi usually receives about 650 mm of rainfall during the monsoon season. Safdarjung Observatory has recorded 447 mm of rain so far this year. The average maximum temperature of this month has been 35.8 degrees Celsius.
