Terrorist Attack in Doda District: Police Officer Injured, Operations Underway
Overview of the Incident
In an unfortunate event on Wednesday, June 12th, terrorists opened fire on a police officer in the Gandoh area of Doda district, Jammu. The officer sustained injuries in the attack, following which the assailants fled the scene. Security forces immediately launched a search operation in the area to apprehend the perpetrators.
Recent Security Situations in Jammu Division
Over the past four days, Jammu division has witnessed four encounters between security forces and militants. According to Jammu Police, around 8:20 PM on Wednesday, a confrontation erupted between security personnel and militants at Kota Top in the Gandoh area of Doda district. During this exchange, Constable Fareed Ahmad was injured. The area witnessed intermittent gunfire between security forces and militants, and currently, the entire area remains cordoned off by security personnel.
Second Terror Incident in Doda District Within 24 Hours
Officials reported that at approximately 7:41 PM, gunshots were fired from Bhalesa Kota Top area, which prompted security forces to retaliate. As of the latest updates, sporadic exchange of gunfire continued between both sides.
Reinforcement and Ongoing Operations
To strengthen the cordon, additional forces have been deployed in the area. This marks the second terrorist-related incident in Doda district within the past 24 hours and the fourth incident in three days across Jammu and Kashmir.
Previous Attacks in Recent Days
Prior to these incidents, on the evening of June 11th, a terrorist attack in the Chattargalla Pass area left five personnel from the National Rifles and a Special Police Officer injured. Moreover, another incident occurred late at night on June 11th in Kathua district, where security forces neutralized a suspected Pakistani terrorist.
