Netflix is thinking of giving a free version in Europe and Asia. Till now Netflix runs on pay-per-view model, that is, money has to be paid to use it. But, according to Bloomberg’s report, the company is now planning to bring a free version. The purpose is that more and more people can come to Netflix. However, in this free version, maybe only a few movies or series can be seen, or advertisements can come in between. Till now the company has not made any official announcement, but these news are coming.
According to a report, Netflix had earlier tried to show its service to people for free in an African country named Kenya. But last year the company stopped this free service. The report also states that the company’s top officials are now thinking of starting Netflix’s free service in even bigger countries, especially in those countries where free TV already runs and Netflix can also show advertisements, for example Germany or Japan.
The company is considering
According to the report, however, the company has no plans to provide free service in the US. This is because the report states that Netflix has reached most of its potential customers in the US. Also, sources associated with this report have said that it is still in the initial stages. The report also states that the company has not yet made an official announcement about the free plan in any market, but is only considering it.
How will the company benefit?
A free service helps the company reach more people who either cannot afford the service or do not have a good way to pay. These free plans will also solve a major challenge for the company – creating more space to show advertisements. Apart from YouTube, Netflix is the biggest name for video streaming. But in terms of advertising, it is still far behind Google’s streaming service.
