The government is concerned about the increasing online fraud with common people. The government constantly issues alerts to help the common people who lose money in such scams. In a similar recent alert, the government has tried to save people from fraud being done in the name of the post office.
PIB Fact Check revealed
PIB Fact Check has revealed that messages are being sent to people in the name of India Post and they are being asked to update the address. In the messages being sent through SMS, people are being given a few days’ time and they are being told that if they do not update their address within the given time, then one of their incoming packages may be returned.
This is how criminals deceive
The gang of fraudsters claims in such messages that a package is coming to the concerned user, which will go back if the address is not updated. Due to the address not being updated, the alleged package is not being delivered and is being returned again and again. A link is also being sent through SMS and it is being said that with the help of that link, users can update their address instantly from home and they will get the delivery of the package within 24 hours of the address being updated.
The claim of the alleged package is false
However, this does not happen, because in reality no package has arrived as claimed. Common people fall into the trap of the message and open the link to update the address. The related link is of a suspicious website, where after entering the details, people become victims of fraud and lose their hard-earned money and savings.
Do not do this even by mistake
PIB Fact Check says that such messages are fake. Such messages are never sent to people by India Post or Post Office. India Post never asks to update the address by sending SMS. If you also get such a message, then ignore it and do not click on the suspicious link even by mistake.
