The Unfolding Incident in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh: Unveiling a macabre scenario akin to a chilling tale, two sisters were stumbled upon inhabiting their household in Lanka, Varanasi, alongside their deceased mother for almost a year. The distressing revelation emerged as a consequence of neighbours raising concerns to the police about the prolonged absence of the siblings from their home.
According to a senior official’s statement, the deceased, identified as 52-year-old Usha Tripathi, a resident of Madarwa, Samenghat, had passed away due to prolonged illness in December of the previous year. Astonishingly, instead of performing the last rites, the daughters, Pallavi Tripathi (27) and Vaishvik Tripathi (18), opted to confine their mother’s remains within a room in their residence in the Mandarwa locality of Lanka.
“Lanka Station House Officer (SHO) Shivakant Mishra confirmed that Usha’s husband had departed two years prior and had not returned even after her demise,” mentioned an official report.
The unsettling state of affairs arose when the sisters refrained from leaving their dwelling for over a week, leading neighbours to grow concerned. Despite attempts to make contact by knocking on the door, receiving no response heightened suspicion among locals. Subsequently, the police were notified of the peculiar situation.
Upon receiving the distressing information, law enforcement dispatched a team to investigate the matter.
Efforts to establish communication were met with silence, prompting the police to take action. Upon forcibly entering the premises, a ghastly sight awaited them—inside a room lay the decomposed body of the deceased, with her daughters discovered sitting alongside her, a shocking revelation.
The official statement confirmed the detainment of both sisters by the police for further investigation into the incident.
