Mokshada Ekadashi, a revered day in Hinduism, holds profound significance in bestowing joy, prosperity, and auspiciousness to one’s life. While all Ekadashis are deemed special in Hinduism, certain ones carry immense importance, among which Mokshada Ekadashi stands prominent. Falling on the eleventh day of the bright half of the Margashirsha month, this day is also celebrated as Geeta Jayanti. Observing the fast of Mokshada Ekadashi, performing the rituals with precision, and taking a holy dip in sacred rivers are believed to grant liberation to ancestors from their earthly bonds as per the scriptures. It’s considered a means for ancestors to attain salvation, freeing them from the karmic entanglements, thereby absolving the individual of their sins. This is why it’s revered as both “Punya Dayini” (bestower of virtues) and “Mokshadayini” (bestower of liberation), earning it the name Mokshada Ekadashi.
