Recently, during an event organized by The Indian Express in Ahmedabad, Bumrah shed light on many unheard aspects of his life. He told how he used to get scolded by his mother for cricket. He was advised to stay away from cricket. In this program, Jasprit Bumrah also talked about his role model.

Got scolded by mother in childhood

In childhood, Bumrah’s mother did not want him to play cricket, for which she also scolded him. Bumrah said, “I did not get much regular training and my mother also did not want me to play cricket till I completed class 10 because she felt that I would not be able to concentrate on my studies. So the only way to learn was television.” So this is Jasprit Bumrah’s role model Bumrah did not have any special bowling action in childhood. Whoever he saw taking wickets, he started imitating them. He said- “In childhood, whenever a bowler took wickets, I used to try to imitate him because I did not have any special bowling action of my own. In this way, by imitating different actions, I developed my own unique style.” Bumrah also revealed that he was very impressed by left-arm bowlers and also tried to bowl with the left hand. He said, “But yes, I was also very impressed by left-arm bowlers and also tried to bowl with the left hand. I can bowl with both hands, but there is a difference in speed.” So Jasprit Bumrah’s role models are all those bowlers whom he saw on the TV screen, who gave wings to his imagination and made him one of the most dangerous bowlers in the world.
