Anurag Thakur Speech: BJP MP and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur asked the caste of Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi during his speech in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday (July 30). He questioned Rahul without naming him on the issue of caste census. There was a lot of uproar in the House regarding this. Leader of Opposition Rahul called Anurag’s asking about his caste an insult and said that it will not deter him from sticking to his demand for caste census.

However, amid this entire controversy, a statement has now come from the Congress itself, in which the party leaders have told what is the caste of the Leader of Opposition. Congress leader Pawan Khera said, “What does he (Anurag Thakur) mean when he said that Rahul Gandhi does not know his caste? He will lose his membership in Parliament and BJP will suffer serious losses because of him. He has a problem with the Gandhi family and the Congress. If he wants to know Rahul Gandhi’s caste, it is ‘martyrdom’.”

No moral standing to stand in front of Rahul Gandhi: Supriya Shrinet

Congress leader Supriya Shrinet also attacked Anurag Thakur over his statement. She said that if Anurag Thakur wants to know Rahul Gandhi’s caste, he can go and ask people himself. Shrinet said, “I have no interest in knowing your caste, but you repeatedly reveal your character – by giving inflammatory speeches and asking Rahul Gandhi’s caste in the House. You do this because this is your utility in your party.” Supriya Shrinet said, “You want to know Rahul Gandhi’s caste? Whose great-grandfather spent nine and a half years in jail during the freedom struggle of this country? Whose grandfather spent his life for this country? Whose grandmother and father sacrificed their lives for this country? Whose mother is dedicated to this country despite hearing the allegations? And Rahul Gandhi himself? You neither have the moral status nor the stature to stand in front of him.”

Supriya told whom to ask Rahul Gandhi’s caste

The Congress leader further said, “If you want to know Rahul Gandhi’s caste, then go and ask Ramchet Mochi, ask vegetable seller Rameshwar, ask Nirbhaya’s mother, ask Hathras’ Gudiya’s family, ask the families of martyred Agniveers, ask crores of Dalits, deprived, tribals, backward people, for whose rights he is fighting. Remember one thing, Rahul Gandhi and INDIA alliance have decided, caste census will be done.”
